United Way of Washington County Names Heather Guessford as President & CEO

 

HAGERSTOWN, MD (January 21, 2020) — The United Way of Washington County Board of Directors is pleased to announce Washington County’s Heather Guessford as President & CEO. Guessford will take the helm on Wednesday, February 5th, 2020.  Guessford currently serves as Purdue University Global’s strategic partnerships manager. Guessford is a Washington County Chamber of Commerce 2020 Young Professional of the Year finalist and a 2019 Business Person of the Year finalist.

Guessford comes to United Way with over fifteen years of experience giving, advocating and volunteering through many different capacities – serving as an employee campaign coordinator, earning the title of 2010 Employee Campaign Coordinator of the Year, serving and co-leading the 2019/2020 Be The One campaign and volunteering annually in Washington County’s single largest volunteer effort – United Way’s Day of Caring. Guessford is extremely well-known for her philanthropic efforts such as emceeing and leading many special events as well as board leadership of several other notable organizations in Washington County including; Horizon Goodwill Industries, Lasting Change Recovery Solutions, Washington County Chamber of Commerce, Sunrise Rotary, Barbara Ingram School for the Arts, Humane Society of Washington County and the Maryland International Film Festival, just to name a few. “Guessford’s nonprofit experience working with many diverse community agencies brings another dimension and valuable insight to United Way. “– Eichelberger.

Heather’s service and commitment to the community speaks for itself as she joins and will lead an organization known for its commitment to “inspire collaboration to impact community improvement”. Guessford is a Washington County native with more than twenty years of experience in public relations, marketing, event design and execution, in both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. “My joy is in working with nonprofit organizations that help make our community stronger. I was raised in this community and am beyond thrilled and ready for the opportunity to make a difference in a much larger capacity.” – Heather Guessford.
