The Hagerstown Area Religious Council (HARC) is a coalition of churches and houses of faith in the Hagerstown area of Washington County. Formerly Washington County Council of Churches, HARC has been active in the community since around 1946 and has been recognized as a 501c3 non-profit organization since 2001. While HARC’s partner congregations can differ greatly on theology, all agree on the strength of working together to build a better community, help those in need, and support one another.
HARC's programs include:
- Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) presentations and training to the faith community and other community organizations.
- Lighthouse After-School Program
- Micah's Backpack
- Refugee Welcome Network
HARC also hosts a myriad of resource information on their website. These resources include children & family, clergy services, congregational vitality, counseling services, food, clothing and personal care, housing/shelter, immigrant services and information, non-violence and peacemaking, safety in houses of worship, and wellness.
