Hagerstown Day Nursery

Hagerstown Day Nursery was established 1815 as "The Charity School" and supported by the "Older Citizens" of Hagerstown. In 1842, the Nursery's present site was built with a legacy donated by Matthias Hammond.

Today, the Nursery provides a safe, happy, stimulating pre-school for children of working parents or guardians. Staff are credentialed for teaching "Stem Programming" (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and participates in the MSDE (Maryland State Department of Education) Food Program. Children are provided with nutritious, hot meals cooked daily in the kitchen, include breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack. They are a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization run by a volunteer board of directors dedicated to the well-being of the school.

In 2025, the Hagerstown Day Nursery will be celebrating its 210th anniversary!
