American Red Cross Western Maryland and United Way of Washington County Raise $13,000 Through Holiday Gift Wrapping Fundraiser!

And that's a WRAP!
On behalf of the American Red Cross Western Maryland Chapter and the United Way of Washington County, Md., we'd like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of our Caring Hands gift wrapping event this year. We appreciate you, our amazing volunteers, as you served as our “boots on the ground.” Without you, this event would not have been possible, nor as successful as it was. As many of you may already know, this is the 2nd year that the United Way was involved, and the first year that we – the American Red Cross and United Way - partnered together to make this event as much of a collaborative and community effort as possible. For more than 25 years, the Red Cross has hosted this event, and the United Way is very appreciative of the offer to work together in this community engagement and fundraising effort! We continue to learn from our efforts and will continue to improve our process in the years to come. Overall, the outcome has been so great and that is because of you – our volunteers! Thank YOU from the bottom of our hearts and on behalf of our community!

From November 30th through December 24th, we had the opportunity to meet many new faces that we wouldn't have had the chance to otherwise. It was a pleasure meeting and working with new volunteers, as well as seeing some of our seasoned veterans. We are extremely grateful for your generosity and continued support to improve our community. We firmly believe that “together, we can make a difference.” This year we did just that!

You might not have thought about this, but your selfless act, multiplied by 650 (that is right, we had more than 650 volunteers), impacted the lives of many, especially during the holiday season! To illustrate your efforts and your impact, read this slowly: together, those 650 plus volunteers who donated their time, talent & treasure resulted in a whopping 1,950 volunteered hours that helped raise over $13,000 for our community! What a huge success! You did something so amazing and we want to make sure you know how much you mean to us here at the United Way of Washington County, American Red Cross of Western Maryland, and to our community. You are our heroes!

Congratulations to the Citi team lead by Nicole Ray! They are our winners for both of the team challenges this year - most gifts wrapped and most donations received during their shift!
The Citi team will be receiving a United Way and Red Cross Swag Bag filled with all sorts of goodies!

We hope to see you again at the 2020 Caring Hands Gift Wrapping!
