Day of Caring for Washington County, MD provides a variety of services that help individuals with home safety and minor repairs on projects that include painting, gardening and more. In our community, there is a need for assistance to help make one’s living situation more comfortable and safer. These are the kinds of projects for which the Day of Caring is designed. Nonprofit agencies and elderly, disabled, low-income & military veteran homeowners are invited to submit project applications by July 01, 2020.
Individuals and teams are invited to register today! Volunteers are encouraged to sign up before August 2nd to receive an official Day of Caring t-shirt! The first 10 volunteers/teams who sign up will receive a prize donated by participating local businesses.
Volunteers who sign up after 8/2 will not be guaranteed a t-shirt*. Volunteer applications will not be accepted after August 20, 2020.

Your United Way understands the effects that COVID-19 is having on our community, right here in Washington County. This is why we are actively preparing a change in plans for this year's annual Day of Caring. We still have every intention of hosting Washington County's largest volunteer effort on September 17th. However, we are fully aware that this year will be different. We understand that many projects and events will need to be restructured, postponed and cancelled due to the health and safety of all involved. We will adjust to the changes as they continue to take place and will follow the CDC requirements and Governor's orders at that time.
Our community needs this day, now more than ever. We need the support from our volunteers and community partners. Every year, our area's nonprofit agencies and residents who are elderly, disabled, low-income, and military veterans rely on volunteers to make positive change happen. This year we understand volunteer recruitment will be a major challenge. We are calling upon you, our community, to think outside the box. Consider alternative options such as virtual or remote projects. Is there an alternative project you or your team would be interested in completing? What else can you do to show how you #LIVEUNITED? Show us how you make change happen in Washington County (all year long). Tell us how you care for friends, family, neighbors and our community. Please contact us with your thoughts and ideas.
Projects are no longer being accepted. We look forward to receiving your application next year!
