2020 VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program

In response to the most recent announcements & updates regarding COVID-19, we will be suspending all Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program appointments, effective March 18th - March 31st, and until more details are confirmed. The United Way of Washington County, MD is running a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program from now through the end of March. This VITA program is a partnership between the United Way of Washington County, MD and Cash Counts Maryland. This program helps low to mid income families and individuals by offering free tax filing. VITA is for people who make $56,000 or less, persons with disabilities, and others with challenges filing taxes (for more information, see: Free Tax Return Preparation for Qualifying Taxpayers
This nationwide program relies on local agencies to organize and staff the VITA sites. United Way of Washington County is providing space, staff, and most of the volunteers for the site. Tax return service is BY APPOINTMENT ONLY on Tuesdays between 3pm and 7pm and on Saturdays from 9am and 1pm.
