Benefits of United Way Internships 

When you join United Way of Washington County you are part of an effort to make positive changes in our community to improve the quality of life for all who call Washington County home. Students currently enrolled in a degree program from a variety of majors and backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Internships are available year-round.
Internships are meant to provide a direct benefit to the student as well as to United Way of Washington County, MD. Interns are expected to provide valuable support to their direct supervisor; oversee at least one significant project to its completion; and develop skills related to the area of function.
 
If you are interested in any of the available internships, please send a cover letter and your current resume to the individual listed for the intern position to report to. Please indicate in your cover letter: 1) your interest, 2) what you hope to gain by the experience, 3) timeframe for the internship, and 4) contact information.

Internships

Administration - Gain experience and have a broad exposure to multiple areas in office management and other areas that support the mission of United Way.
Community Impact & Investments - Gain experience in grant management and understand nonprofit funding and management and how positive change and affect the overall community.
Event Planning - Gain experience in project management and understand the value events have to the overall mission of a nonprofit.
Finance & Operations- Gain experience in nonprofit management and finances.
Marketing & Communications- Gain experience in public affairs and marketing for a nonprofit to include social media as well as traditional and developing targeted messaging and tracking results of communication efforts.
Resource Development - Gain experience in relationship management, fundraising and donor stewardship and relate how efforts improve Community Impact in Washington County. 
Volunteer Connect - Gain experience in volunteer management and civic engagement; relate how efforts have a positive effect on Washington County.
