The annual CEO Breakfast, featuring host, Joe Ross, Meritus Health, Deb Gorbsky, Citi, and Kim Murdaugh, Walnut Street Community Health Center, was the first of many public forums for campaign co-chairmen Brian Flook and Clarence Horst. The event was attended by nearly 80 CEOs, community leaders, volunteers and campaign coordinators. Mike Harsh, Chairman of the Board, UWWC welcomed everyone to the new year with the "dream team" that includes Brian, Clarence, campaign committee members, and the United Way of Washington County's staff.
Leaders were reminded of the work of United Way through Community Impact and how businesses can align well with the community-minded effort. They were also told of the importance of financial gifts and volunteerism and how these can lead to improved and efficient services through agencies with programs funded through Community Impact. Joe Ross focused on the issue of health and how the Affordable Care Act potentially changes the face of healthcare, and the new critical issues such as obesity and inactivity that negativley affect all ages. Health is one of the three focus areas for UWWC. The others are Education and Income (financial stability). Ultimately we are all reminded that together, we can work on issues and find solutions.
Special thanks to host and sponsor Joseph P. Ross, President & CEO, Meritus Health and sponsor Hagerstown Rotary Club.
